Recently I had the distinct pleasure to watch a new webinar launch about a Swiss MLM company that has restored my faith in the amazing potential of this industry. Maybe the Europeans just do it differently and therein lies a lesson.

Network marketing as a way for home business income and individual freedom has stayed its course for decades. It was the foundation of wellness megacompanies like Amway and Herbalife that have produced millionaires as well as residual incomes for many families.

The basics were always the same: the master company produced the products, provided advertising messages, managed shipping and accounting details and the representatives became the marketing arms and sales force to share the product with their community.

It was always about referral marketing with word-of-mouth recommendation where the back yard or kitchen table was the best place to socialize and share stories.

Then, along came the explosive internet where the world became open to massive promotional opportunities. The mantra rang out loud and clear from early programmers that there was no need to call anyone … just become a guru magnet and they will follow and support you.

And so, network marketing entered the social media circus … easy transformations for some technical experts to stand out from the virtual crowd, to grow enduring followers, to send out flashy websites and promises of falling dollars from the sky, to stir emotional hype to follow your dreams with no plans, foundational principles or structural training for success.

In my opinion, network marketing spread a more malevolent situation where the 2% leaders with huge lists made huge money and the remainder failed and stopped believing in possibilities of a home business model based on knowledge and recommendations. Talking became extraneous in a whirlwind of visual delights.

Seeing this perspective, explains why I was personally inspired by a recent webinar about the launch of a new network marketing MLM company from Switzerland called Electi. I listened for an hour and 20 minutes and began to understand once again the true potential of this industry done with ethics and the right enduring help to build success.

The webinar covered the basics of their innovative product technology and the vision of a lifestyle culture to be healthy, wealthy and happy including personal development. There was no pressure to join with open levels. (Electi is a latin word that means to choose what you want.)

But differently, and most importantly, the webinar also presented a training segment by a veteran trainer who explained the 7 steps to success that has stood the test of time that includes Setting Goals, Invitations and Presentations.

The formula is simple: Try Them … Like Them … Share Them

Use the Product, Be the Product and Tell Others about the Product.

So, does this mean you keep blasting out posts on social media to find someone who may “like you.” Networking has never been about “look at me”… it’s about “look at you” and a way for a better lifestyle. And any better news is delivered by picking up the phone for a personal connection to empathize and help.

Of course, it was a privilege to hear a European master distributor, Bjorn Arnstedt, who can bring in 23 million people into a previous business in a matter of 12 months. He is 50 years old with an amazing background in sports and network marketing because residual income made more sense than working for an hourly paycheck. I don’t know about his social media magnetism; but, he also likes to pick up the phone and talk to prospects.

The best sales pitch he heard was to try a bottle of patented nutraceutical liquid drops to revitalize millions of cells in the body that gave him better energy. It’s all he needed to talk to the company’s owners and manufacturers to tell the world about it.

The big question is what kind of potential are American networkers missing if their presentations focus on company features, benefits and comp plans that are unrealistic to most because there are no consistent business steps to follow up. And then reps focus their marketing on a self-grooming social media influx hoping somebody might pay attention about something they never thought they needed. Even, perhaps AI can also play a part without a conversation.
