Who doesn’t want a strong innate natural immune system to stand guard against all the foreign germs and viruses ever ready to attack and infect?

The good news is that your body’s biology has provided an extraordinary arsenal and complex network called the immune system for protection and healing.

I am not a scientist or doctor, but as a layperson I want to understand how my body works especially as basic elements or cells … the inception points of health or sickness.

The more you learn, the more you start to respect the cellular components of the immune system like microscopic soldiers ready to defend and protect the body from foreign invaders. Don’t they also need proper nutrients and vitamins to function at their best against their constant enemies?

Your immune system is a large network of organs, white blood cells, proteins and chemicals that work together to protect you from microbes, toxins, germs, bacteria, viruses, parasites and Cancer cells as well as heal from infections and injuries.

Antibodies ... proteins that bind to invaders to destroy them.

Cytokines … proteins serve as different types of chemical messengers that tell your immune cells where to go and what to do with inflammation that are damaging tissue.

Lymph nodes  vital part of your lymphatic system that forms a network similar to the blood vessels but carries a fluid called lymph instead of blood. These are small bean-shaped organs that filter waste products from your tissues and cells while keeping the good components, like nutrients.

Spleen … organ stores white blood B cells, filters your blood, and recycles old and damaged cells to make new ones.

Tonsils and adenoids … located in your throat and nasal passage that trap bacteria or viruses as soon as they enter your body.

Thymus ... small organ helps T-Cells to mature before they travel elsewhere in your body for protection.

Bone marrow … fatty tissue inside your bones is like a factory to make blood cells including white blood cells.

Mucosa … a three-layered membrane that lines cavities and organs throughout your body that secretes mucus to capture germs and then clear them out.
